AQTA провел брифинг, посвященный Курбан-Байрам

The Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AQTA) held a briefing on animal slaughter and sale activities during the Eid al-Adha. The briefing attended by about 20 media representatives was organized in order to inform the public about the work done in the direction of providing the population with safe meat and meat products during the holidays, as well as about the slaughter and sale of sacrificial animals.

It was stated in the briefing that the sale and slaughter of sacrificial animals will be organized at 138 locations across the country in order to carry out the slaughter and sale of sacrificial animals in accordance with the relevant norms and regulations, in safe and healthy conditions. In 80 of them, slaughtering and sale of sacrificial animals, in 46 only sale, and in 12 only slaughtering services will be offered to citizens. Sacrificial animals that have passed veterinary control and are slaughtered in accordance with sanitary-hygienic requirements will be presented to customers at those sales points. In addition, mobile slaughter tents will be set up in a number of regions in agreement with the Agency, slaughtering and selling of sacrificial animals will be carried out under veterinary supervision. In this framework, for the first time this year, tents for animal slaughter were installed in Agali village of Zangilan district and Talish village of Tartar district, which were freed from occupation.

It is planned to slaughter sacrificial animals and deliver the meat to citizens on the basis of pre-received orders by trade networks with refrigeration infrastructure operating in the country. In this regard, those sales networks will provide additional information to the population a few days before the holiday. A special link has also been placed on the AQTA website so that citizens can find out the addresses of the mentioned trade networks in advance.

Citizens can use the above services to sell, buy or slaughter sacrificial animals on holidays from 08:00 to 20:00.

It should be noted that the briefing provided information on the reforms carried out in the direction of improving veterinary services in Azerbaijan, as well as the successes achieved in the field of exporting veterinary and animal products to foreign markets. At the same time, they talked about the importance of ensuring public control over the slaughter and sale of sacrificial animals and that laboratories will operate in an enhanced mode during holidays. Also, it was emphasized that it is appropriate to slaughter male small-horned animals over 7 months of age on the Eid al-Adha.

It should also be noted that AQTA closely cooperates with media representatives in providing the population with healthy food and educating them in the field of food safety, and constantly focuses on increasing the knowledge of journalists in this direction.
